Blackheads occur when the skin is excessively oily and is not properly cleaned. Although they are called blackheads, sometimes these blockages in the skin are yellow or brown colored. Many times people will pick at or try to pull out the pimples and if this is done improperly then serious damage can be caused to the skin. Hair follicles that have been stifled by the keratin found in blackheads will turn to a darker color if not taken care of properly.
Skin care regimens are important step in the prevention of blackheads. Using warm cloths to open up the pores so that the cleansing can reach into the pores where acne lurks is a wise idea. Getting rid of the dirt that causes acne will help slow and stop the formation of blackheads. Also consider using a face wash formula that has salicylic acid in it to help cleanse out the dirt and keep the acne from forming. Dermatologists suggest washing the face at least twice a day, but not to scrub the face too vigorously. Scrubbing the face with too much force can irritate the skin more and more acne can appear in response to the harsh treatment.

The criminal justice system offers inmates washcloths and simple soap to wash their faces with. While inmates have access to a dermatologist it is unlikely that a trip will be granted because of suffering from excessive blackheads. Like any other person, an inmate should wash their face at least twice a day to help prevent acne. Blackheads can appear on any part of the body including face, arms, back and legs. Being clean is the best way to stop blackheads before they form. A dermatologist can remove blackheads in a way to prevent scarring on the body.
